Our medical practice is specifically dedicated to the prevention of disease and the restoration of health. We use a proactive, integrated approach that focuses on all aspects of the person’s life. Therefore, the approach is both individualized and unique depending on the person’s needs, challenges and goals. Our goals are to identify risk factors which contribute to disease states, to screen for possible disease states which may not have been diagnosed or have gone untreated, as well as to decrease or eliminate the dependency on certain prescription medications for which drug-free interventions may be medically applicable. Disease prevention through early detection and the restoring of health and balance are achieved through the use of drug free nutritional interventions, weight management, behavior and lifestyle counseling, and specific patient education.

The hallmark of our practice is the Modified Mediterranean Diet, which was written by both Founders of Bariatric Associates, that has been used successfully in the drug free treatments of many chronic debilitating illness such as diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, disorders of elevated cholesterol, insomnia, insulin resistance syndromes, degenerative joint diseases and cancer. All chronic disease states such as these have been documented to start out as inflammatory states, which over time, if left untreated cause our bodies to breakdown, finally resulting with a medical diagnosis. The second component of our nutritional philosophy is a low glycemic plan. This approach is high in lean protein sources, antioxidants and includes all healthy carbs. The component is specifically suited for diabetics as well as pre-diabetics. Therefore this nutritional regime is anti-inflammatory, safe, effective and specifically addresses the unhealthy metabolic deficiencies most new patients present to our practice upon their initial consultation.
